Edit your page’s meta description!
This is the easiest way to get more search engine users to come over to your website.
If your nonprofit is anything like my awesome nonprofit clients, your site comes up a lot in search engine results. I know this because every quarter, I get together with my clients and we review the information in their Google Analytics account.
During the last round of quarterly website check-ins with my clients, I realized that we needed to find a quick way to get more of those search engine visitors over to the website.
When you update your page’s meta description to directly address a visitor’s needs or interests, you will see a huge increase in people actually clicking over to your website from search engines like Google!
What is a Meta Description and Why Does it Matter?
A meta description is the preview text that appears in search results. Like this:
This text is the only chance you have to directly address search engine user’s needs or interests! This text is the only chance you have to invite a search engine user to click over to your website.

Grab the plugin: Yoast SEO
Start with your homepage. When you have time, work through the other important pages on your site.
Navigate to your page and click edit.
Scroll down and find the “Yoast SEO” box.
Edit the “description” field and insert text that will invite a search engine visitor to click over to your website.
